On Saturday 28th April Ron Brooks Ilkeston was proud to support the Ilkeston Hospital League of Friends with their Annual Charity Bed Push. The event saw five teams from within the local community carry out the challenge of pushing a hospital bed from the bottom of Bath Street up to the Market Place.
Neil Haynes was on hand from our Ilkeston showroom with one of our PROACE vans, which was used to transport the bed down from the finish line to the start line at the bottom of Bath Street. Mayor of Erewash Councillor Mary Hopkinson and Erewash MP Maggie Throup were in attendance to greet the teams as they reached the finish line on Ilkeston Market Place.
The participating teams were made up of members from the Ilkeston Community Co-Op stores, the Rotary Club of Ilkeston, NHS hospital nursing & administration staff from Ilkeston Hospital, East Midlands Ambulance Service staff and staff from Tesco Stores. The teams between them have raised in excess of £1,300.
The money raised will go towards helping the League of Friends in their work to refit Ilkeston Hospital’s new coffee bar, shop and reception area. Any funds left over will be used to purchase new medical equipment.
